About us
Signal Academy is a DJ and music production school built to support the next generation of artists in the underground scene. It’s stationed right up the block from Signal, a part of the same neighborhood and community, a place where you can learn, try things out, and actually spend time creating in a proper studio environment.
The project is led by Kurilo, a DJ, producer, and Signal regular, originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine. He’s run similar projects before and spent years in clubs and studios across Europe, and this space in New York is a continuation of that journey, bringing education and community together in a way that feels personal and hands-on.
More than a school, Signal Academy is something that will grow with the people using it. It’s a space for one-to-one teaching, studio sessions, and collaboration, and it will keep evolving as the community around it grows.

Kurilo, Kharkiv-born DJ/producer and vinyl selector, will lead Signal Academy. Building off his experience running a similar DJ education initiative in Kharkiv , he has spent years shaping emerging talent. Starting percussion at 12, he grew into electronic music, crafting sets that blend rare 90s vinyl with contemporary sounds. With 30+ releases, he is founder of Etat Records and co-founder of Trance Pandemic and Tunamelt, resident at Signal NYC.
